This One's for You, Jenn!

My friend Jenn, whom I've never met...You know, that is an interesting statement, but if you are a blogger, you totally "get it", anyway... Jenn gave me a challenge of sorts to re-post my 6th photo ever posted, and kinda recycle it.

Now, it you followed that longest-rambling-sentence-in-history, I chose to not use the "giveaway" pictures, (besides, I did not win them!) and here is my 6th photo:

This is my family by love, Larry's big/little sister, Ginger, and his/our Mom. I think it's cool that this is the photo. I just got off the phone with Mom, she was checking on our stolen car thing, and asking about our plans for this June.

See, this was taken when we went home to Nebraska to a surprise visit celebrating Mom's 80th birthday last year. Now, forward to this year, because we get to celebrate Dad and Mom's 50th Wedding Anniversary! They were married in March, but we are a family of so many in the ministry of Christian School Education, it was set to celebrate in June, and we are happy to participate!

I get out of school on a Thursday at noon, and we are to be there for the celebration at 2 p.m. Saturday.

We are driving.

We live in California, they are in Nebraska.

1,200 miles.

20 hours.

Wee-ee-e....

Thank you for the shout out, Jenn!
Love, Pokey

Hexagon Quiltalong

I'm in!

I'm waiting on my ruler for the hexagon quiltalong, and sewing on those blue borders today. Oh, and on these strips...

I'm thinking of using these florals, too, for a second one. Why not? *smile*

Happy Quilting!

were it not for Crazy Mom Quilts. And, ... she's sayin' hello again!

A few of us have said hello back....

Words for Wednesday

Hudson Taylor wrote to his wife at a time of great need. He did not ask anything of men, his requests were made in prayer, to the God of all provision. He wrote:

"We have 25 cents, and all the promises of God!"

Hudson Taylor was the first English missionary to China. Founder, China Inland Mission. Taylor spent five years translating the New Testament into the Ningpo dialect. At his death in 1905, there were 205 stations with 849 missionaries, and 125,000 Chinese Christians in the China Inland Mission.

These words inspired me today, I hope they do the same for you!

Blessings, Pokey

What a Week!

So, back to school tomorrow, and over all, I have so enjoyed my Easter vacation week! I'm doing a little auditioning for the borders. . .

And the math crunching calculations...yes, I got the pattern from the book, but I tend to make any project my own! This one will fit our queen bed.

We are dressing up the guest towels for the "company" bathroom. For twenty five years, we lived in homes with only one bathroom, it is wonderful to have another potty... er, powder room!

The pink flower is not attached, I just think Lydia's crochet talents are beautiful. . .

These are her latest pillowcase edges on her lovely sheets. . .

So, it'll be back to work, but it feels pretty good to have some things accomplished! We are waiting out the insurance on the car, it looks like they will fix it, but on their time.
Alrighty, then! As I said we need the car, (not a car payment).

On the giveaway front, here are a few to consider. . .
Go wish Robin of Robin Quilts, Etc. a happy birthday, and enter for 20 fat quarters, and her newest pattern.

Kate of The Quilting Professor, has a nice giveaway with 3 quilting books. She is a blogger that I didn't know about before today!

There is another new-to-me person, and she is a published author of (at least) two quilt books, and she is gonna give two of them away! Check out Gayle Bong's blog, and her new book,
"Twin Peaks" . It is getting great reviews. revised: we missed this one, but her blog and books look great, look on Amazon!

Hope you are enjoying your week!
Happy Quilting,

This Tuesday

So guess what happened today? Our 1993 Toyota Camry was stolen
out of our driveway. WHY? 267,000 miles, paint peeling, OLD car.
The police in the neighboring city found it, called us and had it
towed costing us $220, and we couldn't drive it because the thieves
had "popped" the ignition on it. Now insurance is involved, we have a
$250 deductible, and if it is considered totaled, we will get a check
for what the old car is worth. OLD. We just need the car. And, they took
e v e r y t h i n g that was in the car, including about 30
Christian CD'S-!!, and- our garage door opener. . . .
I've spent this WHOLE day on being a victim twice over, and looking for
God's plan in the issue. I know He has one. :-}

"I will call upon the LORD, [who is worthy] to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.
He brought me forth also into a large place; He delivered me, because He delighted in me."
Psalm 18

Isn't it amazing, He delights in us?

Have a Good evening,
Pokey

In the Mail

Look what was in my mailbox!

Jen of Little Scraps of Happiness had finished this project, and had used only 2 1/2" off of each strip, leaving almost a full strip, . . .

for lil' ole' me! aw, shucks. . . .

I'm tickled pink! or, feeling nostalgic. . . .

Have you ever noticed, there is something "freeing" about having the jelly roll opened. . . ?
*smiles*
