Hi! How's the year of 2014 going so far? We have a year of "high hopes" in progress. I'm planning to see through a few changes and come out to a brighter tomorrow, LOL I need to put some goals and objectives on paper, and then follow through. Joanie suggested a year of finishes through:
I appreciated the fact that she made allowances for new starts for this year, 'cuz that is more realistic for the way I roll. Now, I just need to put that list together.... :-}
For Block Lotto, Sophie has plans for bold geometric designs this year, starting with hst blocks that make chevrons. These were simple and done with 2- 9 inch squares. The method was new to me, and I will do it again, as the finished result is 8 finished hst squares, pretty cool ~

The snowpeople are from this year's BOM with Cindy at Quilt Doodle Designs. The directions are clear, easy to follow and beautifully illustrated.
I'm hoping to do this with all stash, and so far, so good.
My people have snaps for eyes, and Lydia is going to hand embroider smiley faces...I like my peoples happy :-}
Sew cute!
"The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah." Psalm 24:1, 10
Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah." Psalm 24:1, 10
God Bless him, it has to be so hard not to find work.
ReplyDeleteHe is on my prayer list :0).
Love your darling snowmen, I saw this one on line and decided I better not start one more thing! Now I am sewing for our local NICU I spend more time than ever making tiny things for preemies.
Happy Sewing
Your snowmen are lovely, I really like how you are doing it scrappy and using your stash... very well done! So glad you are joining me in my quilty BOM adventure this year.
ReplyDeleteHappy quilting,
Cindy
Wow! You are really busy! I love the snowmen! And I'm going to have to check out that half-square triangle idea. I love half square triangles--but, making them? Not so much.
ReplyDeleteI hope Larry loves what he is doing in school. It's so much fun to be able to shine in the presence of young people!
Hi to you two. Just noticed your BlogSpot, and are happy to get caught up on your news.
ReplyDeleteLove and miss you,
Dad & Mom Long
Im sending all my good thoughts to you and Larry,Pokey that this study gets him where he wants to be.
ReplyDeleteYour snowmen are just so cute and those chevron blocks for block lotto are so pretty! I think Ive been inspired to do another chevron quilt this year!
I really like the scrappy blues behind your snowmen! Can't wait to see how that BOM quilt turns out. I'm in that one too.
ReplyDeleteHi pokey! Best of luck to Larry as he faces the challenge of learning something new. Those snowmen are very cute!
ReplyDeleteThe Snowmen are so cute! I hope all goes well for Larry back in school. There is always a challenge, isn't there?
ReplyDeleteYeah to high hopes! Sounds fantastic. Cute cute cute snow people coming to life there. :) Nice to see you!!! *karendianne.
ReplyDeleteYour snowmen are adorable. Kudos to your hubby for taking this big step, I know God will bless it. Happy 2014.
ReplyDeleteDarling snowmen, Pokey - and what a great idea to use snaps for eyes. Here's hoping that your Larry has great success in his quest for finding a job. So many people have had to find new employment at an older age. Gone are the days when men (and women, too) like my husband started out at a job and would work there until retirement with good benefits. My Ray started with the Santa Fe when he was 17 working in the summer. After spending time in the service, he came back to ATSF and worked there for 41 years, retiring at 58. That is not happening anymore! Tell Larry I am pulling for him - and you, too, Pokey!! Carol
ReplyDeleteSo lovely!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Finland!
Hugs, Ulla
Love your Lotto blocks, Pokey, and those adorable snowmen. Good for Larry, that's quite an endeavor. It will keep his brain young! xo
ReplyDeleteThe snow people are adorable. The orange stripe is perfect for carrot noses! I haven't done block lotto in over a year. Maybe I'll go back.
ReplyDeleteGreat strength on your goals. THIS year, I decided to havea "mantra" and I keep the phrase "with purpose" right in front of me. So far, it IS helping stay on track with simple goals, NOT frittering my day away with pointless things, just sticking with reasonable goals each day.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your changes. BTW - love those snowfolks!
Lovely to see see positive thoughts and goals for the year. Good luck.
ReplyDelete"I like my peoples happy," hee-hee, love it. You've got some fun projects underway! Looks like a neat linky with room to both finish and start. All the best to Larry in this new venture. Think of all you're going to learn too by "osmosis"!
ReplyDeleteThe snowmen are absolutely adorable!!! I wish Larry the best with the employment. It is such a tough time, but all the training can't help but be good for him.
ReplyDeleteYour snowman blocks are adorable, I like your noses better than the original! Best of luck to DH in his classes and pursuing a new job! I will check out the UFO and newfo. I always need a little inspiration on those UFO projects.
ReplyDeleteYour Snowmen are so cute. And, I'm sure Larry is going to do well with the webmaster training. So many businesses need help in this area. Heck, just about every quilt shop in So. Cal. needs such help so maybe you can also help to consult.

Love those snowmen! That method for HST is one I've been meaning to try. Love your colors you chose.
ReplyDeleteI hope much success for your husband. I understand so well the difficulty with job hunting. My very qualified, US Army Retired husband has not been able to find work in our area. Up side, he is the best grandpa ever!
Your snowmen noses look very much like real carrots; nice job. I'm trying to use my stash, too, and hopefully that will work.
