I'm home from school, this is going on week three of "asthmatic bronchitis" stuff, no fun. I've finally given in, and am staying home from school a couple of days (mostly due to not having a voice to teach, and the frequent 2-3 minutes of coughing fits.)
So, the positives ~ there are positives, people ~
- I've read and commented on a LOT of blogs,
- even entered a few giveaways, oh yes!
- all caught up on the 1000+ posts right now
- laundry, and most of the cleaning is done (between rests!)
- afternoon naps oh, I could put that into each day
- a bit of creativity too, yea!
For Ginny, this was an easy quilt idea for her grandson #2.
I was at school playing with teacher stuff, can you tell, lol.
We had already decided "easy" had to be the theme, and had cut her four prints into 5 inches by WOF. Yawn. This was too boring to me. (maybe it was the stamps...)
So, these came from a couple hours of play time, and about 4 more fabric selections. That meant pulling out one of the original pieces, we all do that, though, right? These are 12 inch squares, I think she'll like how quickly that size block works into a quilt. We picked a royal blue for sashing, I think that will be best in a boy's room, but the white looks nice....
I also got some of the string hearts done for the Block Lotto. I think they are a bit of a challenge, but I'm glad for the try. I entered only 2, I've a plan for these four.
Today, I'm going to see about using the leftovers of the string hearts.
Did you see the cute metal stamping at Karen's? Well, Larry is helping me with stamping some washers for my second graders for Valentine's Day. These are our washers, but her bookmark, I don't have one done that far yet. (you may need to click to enlarge, the washers say "LOVE")
And lastly, a new arrival from a sale at Fabric. com, this Amy Butler is going to be teaming up with the gray below it...well, dreaming about them together for now, anyway.
Hope I'm not sharing it too early, I may go ADD and jump to something else...
because you notice I haven't slipped it out of it's ribbon yet-yikes!
See ya'll soon!

Hope you are on the mend! Glad to see you are taking a few naps and love the heart blocks you are working on.
ReplyDeleteAfternoon naps are the best.
ReplyDeleteI love the string hearts you're working on. So cute!
Hope you're feeling better soon.
Nope, I don't remember that strawberry print. But I remember SOME patchwork prints from the 70's, including one that I made myself a dress from when I was in high school. Several years later, away from home, I ran across a pajama doll made from that fabric and had to have it for my little-at-the-time daughter, Kelley.
ReplyDeleteJust got up from one of those wonderful naps you're talking about. I get to indulge most days, so if you like, I'll just dedicate my next one to you ! Seriously, though, take care of our Pokey......no more hospital news, hear?
I <3 afternoon naps- especially when its my son taking them :)
ReplyDeleteRight now I have him playing in his crib so I can get ready for a kids Bible study tonight.
You have been very busy lately!
Glad to see you are staying home - just HOW long are those naps!?!?!? Your work is beautiful!! Love the hearts. Make sure you take care of yourself and stay home another day if you need to!!!
ReplyDeleteFeel better SOON, okay?
ReplyDeleteI must have missed something, Pokey! Didn't realize you were under the weather! Nice to have time home, though, right, to do what you want and not have to get up early and out of the house! Take care of yourself!
ReplyDeleteoh gosh, I sure hope you take it easy so that you start feeling better! Good to take the time off...that should help. Love what you're doing with the heart blocks...and those bookmarks are awesome! Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteI was talking to freind of my the other day and she had this stuff....started coughing and had to get off the phone...she hasn't been able to go to church for coughing so much....get well soon. Trish
ReplyDeleteGlad you get some time at home for sewing, playing and naps. Sorry it is because you don't feel so well. The string hearts are so cute. Looks like a fun Valentine for your class too.
ReplyDeleteLove your blue and green fabrics, and your string hearts are great. Hope you feel better very soon!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry you are having such a tough time with your bronchitis! My youngest had a tough time with that as a kid. Not fun. Sure do like those Amy Butler fabrics with the gray.
ReplyDeleteHi Pokey,
ReplyDeleteIt's super lovely to hear from you! I hope you feel better soon. I was battling with a nasty cold/cough for six weeks, and am just now feeling better.
You have some lovely sewing going on there.
Hugs.
I went and bought a stamping set the other day. I'm going to make necklaces as gifts for a quilt retreat this fall.
ReplyDeletesending get well vibes!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, you got a lot done for not feeling well! Hope you're feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you've not been feeling well--but very glad you've managed some quilty time!
ReplyDeletePokey, I'm sorry to hear you are not feeling 100% and if not feeling 100% is bad enough, breathing problems are not fun at all. I hope you feel better very soon.
ReplyDeleteLove your heart string projects. Inspirational. Just lovely.

Hi, Pokey - I hope you are back to feeling yourself again. Spending time doing things you love helps, too.
ReplyDeletePokey, please feel better, I just got over what you have and the breathing while coughing was the worst part! I know your students must miss you a bunch!
ReplyDeletePrayers and hugs!
