(this picture was added after my quilt class)
The morning started with my alarm ringing at 5:20 am...wait, don't I have the day off? Oh, right, Larry might call from the Philippines -- and he did! Skype is amazing! His group had returned back to the hotel early (really, 9:30 pm isn't what I call early) and at this hotel he has access to internet in his room! I love getting to see him and talk. His laptop computer is older so we went and purchased him a viewing camera before leaving, and this Momma is happy! They have done church work and sightseeing, including white water rafting (he fell out and lost his wedding rings, lol!) and a zip line! I was concerned for his poor arthritic ankles, but he survived fine. :-}
Well, since I was up, I made use of my day home from work!
Here's the quilt for David and Rajeana, their wedding was February 9.
This is the first block made in the checkerboard process, the blue pokeydots were from scraps given in my quilt class.
It is my first attempt at "low volume"; to me, this one is more just soft tones. 'Jeana likes rose color, and she sews, too. Don't you love these little pink scissors?
It feels good to see the quilt get rolled up on the frame with each pass--
Ta-da! Off the frame! I'm showing it to class tonight ~
I love the back, sorry, maybe I can get a better picture tonight ~

Here are some wedding shots of the reception, I helped Pam serve another of her famous creations ~
Good friends ~ like gold!
Pokey, Pam, Kathy, Vicky
And lastly, the table runner is complete. auditioning for a binding...
...this wins!
"Through wisdom is a house built, and by understanding it is established, And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches." Proverbs 24:3,4
The quilt looks wonderful! And I love how the table topper came out! :0)
ReplyDeleteOh Pokey I am in love with that quilt! Fabulous work with the colors!
ReplyDeleteOooooo, lost wedding rings!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love that quilt--gorgeous, soft colors. It will be so lovely when it's quilted (although it's plenty lovely now).
Oh, I meant to say I love, love the back too!
ReplyDelete(I had some of the scissor fabric in blue--I'm pretty sure I bought it in Chattanooga back in the 80's! Fabrics hold such lovely memories, don't they?)
Oh my gosh can I just say this is my new favorite quilt on the planet right now? I just have to say that. Pretty cake. What an enjoyable visit this has been. Again, NEW favorite quilt on the planet!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's just right, Pokey.......so pretty, whatever you call it, soft tones, neutrals, low volume.......I call it peaceful ! What a blessing you are !
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got to 'see' hubby !
Love...love your quilt and back too!!!
ReplyDeleteYou will finish that quilt in time for the newly weds to be back from their Honeymoon! Love Skye and FaceTime...amazing technology that keeps us connected with friends and family.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your checkerboard quilt. Such wonderful soft colors! The back is quite wonderful too!
ReplyDeleteWe love Skype, too. Don't know how we would keep in touch with family, otherwise.
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear the trip is going well.
Your quilt is wonderful. Such a big job. It looks great!!
Wow Pokey, I have been gone from blogging for so long and have missed out on so many quilts! I was just going back through all your posts and thinking "yeah, I remember the post about that fabric! I remember that quilt!". I feel bad for being gone so long. I know it's hard for you to have your man gone but how wonderful that he was able to go! You cracked me up with the lol about his wedding rings. Gosh, I miss you girl! So glad I came back over here to catch up with you! Quilts are looking beautiful... as always! =]
ReplyDeleteHave a delightful week, my sweet friend~
BEAUTIFUL!!! I love the low volume colors. Ever since I saw the block this month for The Block Lotto I can't get low volume colors out of my mind. Your version is awesome! The back is sooooo pretty! I like it as much as the front. Glad Larry is having a great trip. Safe travels to him. What a nice experience!
ReplyDeleteLove that quilt! It's gorgeous!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSkype is a cool thing... I visited with my sister a couple of weeks ago and it did my heart good!
The quilt is gorgeous! Beautiful job, Pokey. The fabrics you picked give such a soft, sweet feel to your quilt. What a great gift!! Isn't skpying wonderful? Have so enjoyed being able to see my little great grandbabies that way.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt turned out fabulously....
ReplyDeleteSkype is such fun! Love the quilt and especially the back. Pieced backs give so much interest on both sides.
ReplyDeleteIt's just amazing what you manage to accomplish while working too! That checkerboard quilt is beautiful, and it's so nice to be able to see how you set up and get going with your quilting. So nicely done. It's good to hear you're exploring the wonders of technology - Skype! What would I do without it?! It's how I met my first grand baby who was born in Australia! Now, another grandson (who will be three years old in May) is calling ME on my Iphone, using FaceTime, from his mom's Ipad. What things these babies will learn about technology as they grow!
ReplyDeleteOh, the quilt is just beautiful! There is just something about the simple square that makes me happy, and you've done it up right!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is wonderful! Glad your hubby is having a good time!
ReplyDeleteWow, Pokey, the quilt is amazing!! I love how you've mixed in some color with the other "lower volume" fabrics. The result if fantastic, and the back is great too. What a wonderful gift!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures and your quilt tuned out wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! I love the checkerboard pattern. My poor quilting is on hold. Some things going on in the home front and I can't get my mind settled to get going. Some day!
ReplyDeleteOh how I love this quilt! It says happiness and each block would be a year of their life together! Love the back which always surprises people who don't quilt that the back is a statement too! I've missed reading blogs for ages, and just catching up is making me tired! You have been so busy. Loved reading your blog Pokey!
