I'm back in the classroom getting ready for another "big first day" for second graders!
Oh, all right, the rest of the school classes are starting, too. Our start date is the traditional time, September 5th, after Labor Day. (Looking all around us, I think our school is the only one, lol!)

Tonight, I'm doing the "computer work" for school, you know, newsletter, class lists, attendance charts, class roster, name tags, labels, ...this time of year finds me tired, wonder why? :-}
BUT, let me tell you about 2 things before I get back to the regularly scheduled programming ~
Rebecca Lynne is hosting a charm square swap with those low toned prints that are pretty cool for backgrounds, or maybe your own version of "Sunday Morning Quilts" by sweet Amanda Jean. Look it over, and think about it. I'm in! Rebecca put out a call for a few more participants ~
I also signed on for a "pay it forward". Jan, the blogfriend I'm participating with, picked the first 3 responders. I will do the same. You must be willing to give me a year to complete the item(s), and you would have a year to do that for your friends you want to create for. That means if you are interested, I will be making gifts for three of my followers. If you want to be one of these three, you in turn must be willing to do the same on your blog.
It is a kind deed, I love that!
edited to add:
~next post, I hope to share the last of the comfort quilts for my friend Jeannette, the wife of the police officer killed in a traffic accident last year, September 2. The top is finished, it is made from Jesse's dress shirts~
"Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him." I Corinthians 2:9
I have just signed up for the Low Volume Swap, Pokey! You will have to hold my hand, please - I'm a long way away in Australia and not very used to swaps! I'm doing a Low Volume of my own and would love to get all the different fabrics - should be fun!
ReplyDeleteI love the Sunday Morning Quilt book.
ReplyDeleteIt is time to be busy. Lots to do before those little second graders walk in the door!!
ReplyDeleteSchool has started back here and I feel as if I was tossed in the deep end on the first day...
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful school year!
My kids have been in school for a week already. This is their second week. I remember growing up that we never went back until September. And I'd love to be one of your PIF people! :0)
ReplyDeletesounds like you have a lot going on before getting in the classroom.....enjoy the school year!
ReplyDeleteI visited Rebecca and said I'd sign up for Low Volume. I've never before done a swap.
ReplyDeleteHi Pokey! It's been too long since I've hopped over to your blog to see what you've been up to. ;) I noticed you're in the swap, too. See you there.. it's going to be fun! Thanks for being a teacher.. my son just started KG this year, and the teachers are all so nice at his school! Best Wishes for a wonderful school year. :)
ReplyDeleteDo you know, 2nd grade was one of the best years ever for me at school! It's awesome teachers who make all the difference in the world...and you're always so encouraging to me...I know you're making differences in lil' lives!
ReplyDeleteHave a terrific first day back Pokey. The prep for the year is a killer isnt it?
ReplyDeleteI have been working at school also...The students start on Tuesday. There will be new challenges this year in my special education classroom. I used to have only SLD and EBD--this year I will have three CD students also. I am not sure how it is going to work. I would love to sign up for a Pay It Forward...At this point I don't know if I would be able to make the time to make something special for it.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter (an OT with the school system) went for a couple of days this week and starts in earnest Tuesday. Hope you are having a good holiday before your return to classes next week. I'll bet you are one really great teacher who the little ones will remember!! Carol
ReplyDeleteGood luck on Tuesday. Even as a veteran pro I but you still get those first day jitters. Enjoy one last day tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteAre you all booked up for the Pay If Forward? If not--I will give it a try!!!
