The green houses for the houses quilt along - April's quota! These houses are a 12 inch block, not the 3 1/2 inch ones...
I haven't sewn on the tiny houses for a month, but I can't wait, I swapped some little window figures with Annette of Sunshine Yellow, and my sweet friend Kim from Pokeytown donated to the windows, too!
The "hot-crossed nine patch" for Block Lotto, I sure like this one in plaid.
A little paint and a sale at our new Hobby Lobby...the pink bucket is for Lydia.
~ This tiny pot is waiting for her polka dots ~
(I make dots using an un-sharpened pencil, this one is a primary pencil with a bigger barrel.)
On our trip to Solvang, Beth and I played with this pieced pincushion pattern.
Can you have too many cute pincushions?
We went swimming, sewed, watched tv, drove down by the ocean,
and visited a really cool quilt shop in Buellton, Ca.
and visited a really cool quilt shop in Buellton, Ca.
called the Creation Station.
The store was full of very creative quilts and antique sewing machines.
LoVeD this shop! I wish it wasn't so far away ~
So, now, I need to get ready for school again, but the break was wonderful!
What do you know, 2 posts in 1 week, I'm shocked! LOL :-}
"He is not here: for He is risen, as He said. Come, see...And they departed quickly with fear and great joy; and did run to bring His disciples word." Matthew 28:6,8
Come and see, Go, and tell!
So glad you had a great break, Pokey! I love those little houses (but so far have not given in)...and the hot-crossed nine patch blocks are way cool! Hobby Lobby...one of my favorite stores!
ReplyDeleteOh, I miss Buellton and Solvang. My husband and I lived in Santa Barbara when we were first married and I loved driving over the hill and spending the day there. Is Mortensen's Bakery still in business? I taught with the Mortensen's daughter in Santa Barbara. :-)
ReplyDeleteNo, one can't have too many cute pincushions. Have you seen the ones at Riley blake? I just discovered them today..and they are way too cute. A new one every friday.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely way to spend your break. I spent mine painting kitchen cabinets...they're still not finished. Yikes! ☺
ReplyDeleteLOVE those plaid blocks! You are so inspiring. Happy Monday! ☺
You accomplished alot...love the tins, squares, houses...just love it all..glad you had a productive time.
ReplyDeleteYour green houses look great! I love how scrappy they are! And those pincushions are going to be so cute! :0)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had "too" much fun on your break. Love the house block, you've inspired me.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a very productive and fun week! Isn't it great to have a break in the Spring? And oh, Pokey, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your green houses with the black roofs! They are too, too cute!
ReplyDeleteHope your week back to work goes well!
XOXO,
Cyndi
I'm loving that hot-crossed nine patch in plaids also Pokey! Cute heart!
ReplyDeleteHow are you liking your new Hobby Lobby? Cute polka dots on the buckets! I have some of them in every color that we use for pens, pencils, markers, colored pencils, etc... we should put some dots on ours. =]
Sounds like a very fun time you had! Just being by the ocean would be fun but adding all that other stuff makes it a terrific time! Glad you were able to get away like that and relax. Have an awesome week, sweet sister~
I've been thinking about your green houses all day--probably because they are just so cute and modern for an old pattern and because I would never have thought to put those fabrics in a house. (I did one very, very traditional wallhanging with very, very traditional red and white houses about 25 years ago--I'm sure that wall hanging is in storage in my outbuilding because it would never work in this house. Actually, your green houses wouldn't work in this house either but they surely would make a great greeting on the door---okay, I'm tempted!
ReplyDeleteHope your week back to school is easy. Your week off sounds wonderful.
I adore your Hot Crossed Nine Patch blocks. They're simple, but very striking. Good for you to find a new shop to visit. On Thursday, I hope to go with a girlfriend to a new-to-me quilt shop in Nebraska. Visiting a quilt-y friend is the best!
ReplyDeleteHe is risen indeed!
Glad you had so much fun! Thanks for the dot idea I never thought of using a pencil! God is Good All the time and all the time, God is Good!
ReplyDeleteMore adorable houses--and the lotto blocks are wonderful. I'm so glad you enjoyed your Easter break and also have all these pretty things that resulted from a welcome change of pace. Have a great weekend, Pokey!
ReplyDeleteWell, I certainly feel all refreshed and relaxed from this little vay-cay of yours. Wow, you got a lot done, how fun!!! Everything is great!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a wonderful time on your break. Do you ever make tiny pots in purple? No, you cannot have too many cute pincushions!
ReplyDeleteOne can never have too many pincushions! Love the green and black together in your houses. The 9 patch is really fun. Love those plaid fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI love those green and black houses, a colour I'm fond of using . I have recently made a cut up 9 patch but it is very different to yours . Such pretty pincushions too
ReplyDeleteyour houses are adorable. I have been wanting to do a quilt with houses for a while.....that and about 20 other projects..just not enough time!
ReplyDeleteI really like those hot-crossed nine patches! Love to see all the different ways nine patches are used.
ReplyDeleteHi Pokey. For some reason your posts were not showing up in my reader and I was missing out. I am hoping I have now fixed the problem. I like the blocks you have done. I really like the fabrics in the green houses. Just imagine a whole quilt in them.
ReplyDeleteAnd the hot-crossed nine patch is wonderful. What a great look that creates. It's lovely to see all our other projects, too.
What a fun and well-deserved break! Love the lime green and black houses.
