Did You Know...

Did you know when you get behind on your Google Reader list, it will only tell you how much you are behind on reading your favorite blogs up to 1000? Last night when I went to bed, I was behind by 897, but this morning it says 1000+. I guess it figures if you are behind by more than 1000, you don't really care. But, I care, I really do. Just waiting for my "abby-normal" (abnormal) life to get back to normal. Oh well, a favorite quote of our household is "normal is a setting on the dryer"....

Larry is not quite healed enough to let drink or get his (nose) tube out. Or to digest or drink. We found out late afternoon Friday, and weekends being what they are in a hospital, probably no more tests until Monday. (This update is for family as much as anything, I'm sorry folks that are tired of hearing of our monotony.)

I'm sitting by his side, doing what I can. We hold hands a lot. Or, he holds my foot (grins) if I'm sewing. Yes, I'm hand stitching, don't faint. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do....

And when he gets bad news, he gets up and walks laps around the wing, pushing his IV. He's up to 5 laps at one time. That was after I left last night. It looks like we are in for a slow weekend. I hope your week is going better.

That's it for now. I'll see what the day brings. Have a good weekend, everyone!

Blessings, Pokey

  3. I think the worst thing about being sick, besides being sick, is the interminable waiting. You two hang in there.

  6. Not monotonous - if writing helps to fill you time, or keep your family and friends in 'the loop' - then keep on writing. Good that you have some hand work to keep you company also. Was the hand work planned beforehand or did you just happen to have some handy?

Keeping you, and DH in good thoughts and prayers...

  7. When my husband had several surgeries a few years ago, I spent hours stitching while he slept. Every time I see those pieces, I kind of cringe inside; but they are truly reminders of how God brought us through. You will get through this; you are both still in my prayers.

  8. You and Larry are in my prayers. The hours do seem to drag by in the hospital....and those endless tests! Had to laugh at him holding your foot while you stitch.

  10. Take care of yourselves. Not a happy way to spend the holiday season....but just let others take care of you! Some of the best advice I ever got from my mother in law was..."You need to learn how to be a gracious 'receiver' just as you are a gracious giver."
    Prayers for you!

You both are in my prayers.
I do hope Larry is doing his deep breathing, it is so hard when you have a abdominal wound though ...he's got to do it!

Oh I pray to find some good new tomorrow......

  12. TAke care...I know how long the weekends can be in the hospital. It sound like you are putting your time to good use...handstitching can be very soothing. God bless both of you, praying for complete healing soon.

  13. I don't use Google reader, I never liked it. I just use my "dashboard" and read until I get to the ones I've read before......

  14. Pokey, I am so very sorry to hear about Larry and wishing I wasn't so far behind on my blog reading. I could have been praying all this time. You both are definitely being prayed for now. I wish there was more that I could do for you. You both are some of the sweetest people I have ever met and I've never even "met" you! But I find comfort in knowing that God has held you all this time, throughout this whole ordeal and I know that He will continue to give you peace and comfort that can only be found in Him.
