~ what WAS a wonderful shade tree is down. So sad!
I was home alone, and I picked up my three potted trees 2 times each.
The window shade was beat into pieces and it had to be collected from across the back yard.
When I called Larry and Lydia to tell them about the major tree falling, they both thought I was talking about the potted Ficus on the front porch.
They both told me I sounded more excited about the accomplishment of hanging up the two towel racks, than the 25 foot tree falling, lol
Now, this is my neighbor, Toney, and his son, working the tree over this morning. Yes, folks, you can have great neighbors even in Southern California...!
Wow! Sorry about your tree! We had a bad storm here one time and when it was over, the neighbor's hay feeder for their horses was in our driveway. When I called the neighbor she tried to tell me it was just a garbage can. I told her to look out her window and then she believed me! Scary thing is it had to have been a mini-tornado because straight line winds couldn't have moved it. I'm just glad it landed in the driveway and not on the house!
ReplyDeleteOh my...oh my! So glad someone didn't get hurt when it fell. It does make one stand in awe when a big tree...years old bites the dust.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing that nobody got hurt. That is just amazing. It is nice to have good friends to help. Hope you continue to be safe.
ReplyDeleteAt least no one got hurt. That is all that is important. Maybe you will like the new look!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you're safe and have good neighbors, but I know that you're gonna miss that tree !
ReplyDeleteSo glad no one was hurt, and your neighbours came to help clear it away.

I'm glad nobody was hurt and that your house wasn't hit. We had a tree come down on our house in the summer of 2009 and it did $30,000 worth of damage. It was very scary when it hit the house, too. Now I am very nervous when we get high winds in the area.
ReplyDeleteYikes! What a shame. Bless those neighbors. You have so much going on right now.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was fierce around here, too. Glad you are safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteSheesh! That WAS some wind! It skipped us entirely, sorry it got you so badly. Glad no one was injured but sad for your loss of a good tree!
ReplyDeleteThe wind can do some damage...it seem the trees don't have good roots anymore they blow over so easy...good it wasn't on your house and really good to have good neighbors that will be there for you. God Bless Trish
ReplyDeleteWe went through this in 2007...our entire neighborhood had trees down, shingles missing and we all pulled together as neighbors should...how blessed you are!
ReplyDeleteThat is sad to lose a nice tree - glad no one was near it when it fell! I have always hated wind storms and have been close to but not in tornadoes twice. Michigan can get bad storms but there aren't nearly as many as where I've lived before. Looks like you have good neighbors and a good neighborhood and the cleanup appears to be going along well. Carol
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your tree! So nice that you had help cleaning it up, that must have been quite a job!
ReplyDeleteYikes! The Santa Anas?
ReplyDeleteWow, that was some wind! How thoughtful of your neighbors to help out! I'm telling you, there's nothing like great neighbors that are always willing to lend a hand. Glad nothing else was damaged.
