The design was based on a quilt by the creative Kathie Holland from Inspired by Antique Quilts.
" I get by with a little help from my friends."
Thank you for the information and general well wishes! It's just pulled it off the frame, wow! Some lessons are hard learned....
I just kept tweakin', cleaning, oiling it and re-threading. Oh, and walking away when I felt it was getting the best of me, lol.
I think the problem is a combination of things. I took the bobbin thread out, and changed it. I think one bobbin was not well balanced, so that one is pitched from sewing.
The top tension is about as loose as it can be, but I hit on the correct setting to where the stitches looked good, and the thread quit breaking. Hurray!!
The dedication label was added to because I did not have enough of the cream background- short a fat quarter, basically.
But we'll say it's a design call~
:-}
Edited to add: My first 3 inch house!
Happy to be quilting again!
hugs, Pokey
"For, lo, He that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is His thought, . . . and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is His name." Amos 4:13
So glad you were able to resolve the tension problem. So frustrating! The quilt is so pretty and I like the design choice. Pieced backs are in! Very cute little house. Not sure I could sew one a day. But it is a tempting project.
ReplyDeleteLove your "design call" on the back.... until I read that you were short fabric, I really did think the label was done that way on purpose!
ReplyDeleteA three inch house block... oh my! Looks great!
Yay, I'm so happy for you! And the quilt looks fantastic!
ReplyDelete3" house?! You are a super star!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great looking quilt...sometimes the simple patterns are the richest looking.
ReplyDeleteAnd the back art is terrific too.......what is the saying?... necessity is the mother or invention?
Or in this case creativity!
Congrats on another great finish, and for all your mental strength needed not to throw your machine through the window!
Happy Sewing Dear Pokey
I'm glad you persevered through the tension problems. I so hate that part of sewing. Your quilt turned out beautiful and I love the scrappy blocks on the back.
ReplyDeleteI often find myself just "walking away" from a project and coming back fresh with more resolve to figure out and finish it! Your quilt turned out so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who says no quilt should ever have a plain back. She always mixes up fabrics and designs so that the back of the quilt is almost as interesting as the front.
Hurray for perseverence! Beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteLOOK FANTASTIC!!!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks wonderful! And so does your itty bitty house! :0)
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is wonderful! Your quilting is gorgeous! And of course, the way the label came out was a design call. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIm glad it's finished and no blood was spilled. I finished a cushion this morning that I started last week . It was sent to the naughty corner so I could approach it with a fresh perspective !
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks fabulous Pokey.
I think we all have a love/hate relationship when quilting....sometimes our brains have one thing in mind and our hands/arms have something else...Remember the end product is always LOVE and loved by all. Great work!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great finish. It is a beautiful quilt. Your perseverence paid off big time!
ReplyDeleteFor all your troubles on this quilt, it sure turned out nice. Don't you love that good feeling of accomplishment, especially after a struggle. Good for you to persevere. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteyour quilt is lovely!! and your label is nice and different...did I every say that Davis is my maiden name???

ReplyDeleteYAY!! It is so beautiful Pokey! Glad you were able to get it figured out and finished... I was worried about you breaking a leg, lol! I absolutely LOVE the colors in this, so, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThe little house is adorable, can't wait to see the finish on that. The little bumblebee in the window is so cute.
Enjoy your week~
Glad things finally went right and you were able to finish this lovely gift! Your tiny house is a marvel--I cannot deal with pieces that small and make them behave :)
ReplyDeletePokey, I just love it. It makes me want to make a block quilt again. I can't wait to see it done. Steph
ReplyDeleteLoved reading about how you got your longarm and how you learned to master it. You are quite a gal, Pokey!! I admire you very much. Beautiful quilt, too. And thanks for your nice words.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you can beat a nine patch quilt, and yours is beautiful. Great job on the quilting. Love your little house.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, Pokey!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! I want one just like it! :) Do you mind me asking what size blocks you made? I may have to try and be a bit of a copycat. :)
