Of course, you have to have something to "do" on the road. I have been making these little hexies during little bits of time, but on the trip I got them sewn into a section, probably a table runner,
and two flowers to spare. I do not hand sew, really, but needing a carry along project made this the exception. I was glad to have it along....
When I got home, I had the pleasure of opening "squishy" envelopes, woohoo!! I won the Liberated Checkerboards from Block Lotto! 48 squares are gonna come together from other quilters world over, that's neat, huh?

Before our trip, Lydia had put together her wedding photos into a book on "Shutterfly". Have any of you done this before? Her book is beautiful, I'd recommend it 100%!
It has quality paper, and is hard bound. We had coupons and free shipping, and 52 pages ended up costing around $50.00 apiece, not bad!

Oh, and today is Lydia's Birthday, love you, girl!
Block lotto this month is doing this flower, and here is my 4 for the month.
Do you recognize it, Lynda? You know I love the quilts you've done in this flower!
Well, I needed to post, but now I've got to get back to painting, sanding, glueing, moving woodstuff... a woman's work is never done....

ReplyDeleteEnjoyed seeing your trip photos! Glad it went well, all things considered. Thanks for the info on Shutterfly. I'll keep that in mind for the next big photo occasion.
ReplyDeleteI really like those flower blocks!
Pokey, I enjoyed "catching up" with you!!! Love your projects. That wedding book is absolutely lovely!
ReplyDeleteSo good to see your back and ok. Good your mom was doing ok. Lots of quilting was done I see you must have been in the car along time. lol. Trish
ReplyDeleteThere are half-buried cars west of Amarillo off I'40--but not stacked like Carhenge.
ReplyDeleteLove the wedding book.
Glad you're safely home. When does school start for you? I'm back already!
I love those flowers! My 12 year old granddaughter wants to make one now. Weren't they fun to do.
ReplyDeleteYour vacation sounds and looks wonderful. I've stood on that 4 corners spot myself.
I really need to make some of those hexi flowers too (even tho hand sewing is not my thing either).
My oldest daughter made her blog into a hard bound book. I'm thinking of doing that at the end of the year.
Love the liberated checkerboard. I need to find a pattern for a young man who will be graduating this year. That kind of looks like his fun attitude for life.
Happy Birthday to Lydia!
Happy birthday to your daughter. What lovely pieces ... those little round flower type would make lovely coaters. I envy all you gals that sew.
ReplyDeleteWould you be so kind to leave a comment on my BLOG ONLY (no emails), for the Miracle Makeover fund drive. Charlie, 8 yr. old, & his story are fabulous. Every comment brings us a $1 for the next person that will be sponsored. Please share this with your freinds.
Have a beautiful week.

We also have pictures of Four Corners. Such an exotic sounding place...do they still have the Indian Fry Bread stand? The boys loved standing in four states at one time! I too take Hexi's on the road with me. Loved the pictures, thanks for sharing and have a blessed school year!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the trip was a complete success.
ReplyDeleteI have never gotten to travel in the midwest and it just looks like such a friendly part of the country. thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures and a bit of your travels..
Welcome home and Happy Sewing
how much more do you need to do in the sewing room?
Vacation, wedding book, and wonderful blocks. This was a fun post!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a fabulous trip. So glad you were able to spend some time with family. Lydia's wedding album is beautiful. I had no idea you could do that through Shutterbug. Happy belated birthday Lydia!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun trip and such beautiful pictures! Despite the circumstances, I'm glad you all enjoyed the trip. Although it's hard for the family, I'm glad your MIL has that attitude! It doesn't make it any easier, but it's good to know how she feels about it all. Yes, I would hope to have that kind of disposition too but I'm not sure that I would. What an inspiration she is!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Birthday to Lydia! What a sweet album! I've heard about those books. It looks really awesome.
