Plaid Ticker Tape
For Amy's Sew and Tell Friday, I wanted to share the plaid table runner that was made before Christmas.
It was sewn on the frame at the same time the Christmas ticker tape was made. I'm still learning how to run the machine, just look at this sad mistake:
This, my friends, is what happens when you forget to put the foot tension down- argh!
So, a few tender moments later (an hour watching The Mentalist), it is ripped out, and re-stitched on the Bernina. Hooray!
The back was actually leftovers from a little boy's baby quilt, patched and pieced, and the binding was done the same.
I enjoy the country goodness of plaid, and so this one is on my own table, for now anyway....
Thanks for peeking in today. Go see the other quilty creations being shared at Amy's.
Happy Friday! Tomorrow is the drawing for the Patchwork Posse giveaway, I'll probably post the winner on Sunday.
Happy Quilting,
Pokey

Your Christmas Ticker Tape is so cute! I sure miss CrazyMomQuilts when I see this design! Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteThis turned out beautiful! I had a similar issue when using metalic thread and had to rip out about 15 min of stipple.... ugh!
ReplyDeleteEeeuuu what a ugly birds nest on the back! sorry you had that happen...hopefully it wasn't too much of a pain to rip out.
ReplyDeleteI do love the plaids that you used! I recently made one of all pinks for my 5 year old daughter to use as a doll quilt and now after seeing yours, it gives me the idea to search for some plaids to use to make my 2 year old son one.. he loves to play with baby dolls too and if it was plaid it wouldn't be such a girly looking thing.
Thanks for sharing & Love from Texas! ~bonnie
it has turned out lovely in spite of the mistakes made earlier, I too love the plaids.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Plaids are great and the back is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a fantastic kind of puzzle, I like it!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome...love the plaids!!! Don't ya just hate it when you have to reverse sew? Course, watching The Mentalist is good. {grin}
ReplyDeleteI really like the plaids on this!!! I love the "ticker tape" quilts, and think it is cool how they all have their own personality. I'm still working on one of my own. Sorry about your machine issue. I had the same problem last week. I guess it's a good excuse to watch The Mentalist however. I have about six of them on DVR still unwatched. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it - there's something about plaids that just make you feel warm and cozy.
ReplyDeleteToo darn cute! I have one in progress but it is more scrappy and not as sweet as this one...love the binding too.
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by my blog and when you do the spider web quilt follow Bonnie's tutorial....much easier :0)
Happy sewing
Nice. The plaids are so warm and homey. I loved the Christmas one you made too! Thanks for sharing your mistake! I know I am not the only one to have made a boo boo or two. I have a jar of 1 and 2 inch scraps just waiting for a project like this.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! Sorry about the mishap, this is when you sit down and do a creative hand applique over the problem. My girlfriend did this over a quilting problem and it looked lovely, like it was meant to be there.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen a ticker tape design until a week ago or so - it's so cute! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove the plaids and the binding is great. I too watch the Mentalist every week.
ReplyDeletethis is awesome...isn't the ticker tape fun. i made a wall hanging that way for my sister
ReplyDeleteI love it - and The Mentalist. I'm playing a lot with my scraps these days, maybe a ticker tape quilt would be fun, it sure looks good!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving plaid lately. And ticker tape quilts. Great combo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and cozy! I have never heard the term "ticker tape" before. What exactly is that?
ReplyDeleteI sure miss CrazyMomQuilts when I see this design!

Love it! The plaids give it such a warm, cozy, homey feeling. Just sorry you had to do all that "frog-stitching" (rip-it, rip-it). I've been through that too many times to count... ;o)
