High Hopes ~

Hi! How's the year of 2014 going so far? We have a year of "high hopes" in progress. I'm planning to see through a few changes and come out to a brighter tomorrow, LOL I need to put some goals and objectives on paper, and then follow through. Joanie suggested a year of finishes through:

I appreciated the fact that she made allowances for new starts for this year, 'cuz that is more realistic for the way I roll. Now, I just need to put that list together....   :-}

For Block Lotto, Sophie has plans for bold geometric designs this year, starting with hst blocks that make chevrons. These were simple and done with 2- 9 inch squares. The method was new to me, and I will do it again, as the finished result is 8 finished hst squares, pretty cool ~

this photo borrowed from the method taught

The snowpeople are from this year's BOM with Cindy at Quilt Doodle Designs. The directions are clear, easy to follow and beautifully illustrated.

I'm hoping to do this with all stash, and so far, so good.

 My people have snaps for eyes, and Lydia is going to hand embroider smiley faces...I like my peoples happy  :-}

Sew cute!

"The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah."    Psalm 24:1, 10

  1. God Bless him, it has to be so hard not to find work.
    He is on my prayer list :0).

    Love your darling snowmen, I saw this one on line and decided I better not start one more thing! Now I am sewing for our local NICU I spend more time than ever making tiny things for preemies.

    Happy Sewing

  3. Wow! You are really busy! I love the snowmen! And I'm going to have to check out that half-square triangle idea. I love half square triangles--but, making them? Not so much.
    I hope Larry loves what he is doing in school. It's so much fun to be able to shine in the presence of young people!

  11. Darling snowmen, Pokey - and what a great idea to use snaps for eyes. Here's hoping that your Larry has great success in his quest for finding a job. So many people have had to find new employment at an older age. Gone are the days when men (and women, too) like my husband started out at a job and would work there until retirement with good benefits. My Ray started with the Santa Fe when he was 17 working in the summer. After spending time in the service, he came back to ATSF and worked there for 41 years, retiring at 58. That is not happening anymore! Tell Larry I am pulling for him - and you, too, Pokey!! Carol

  15. Great strength on your goals. THIS year, I decided to havea "mantra" and I keep the phrase "with purpose" right in front of me. So far, it IS helping stay on track with simple goals, NOT frittering my day away with pointless things, just sticking with reasonable goals each day.

    Good luck on your changes. BTW - love those snowfolks!

  17. "I like my peoples happy," hee-hee, love it. You've got some fun projects underway! Looks like a neat linky with room to both finish and start. All the best to Larry in this new venture. Think of all you're going to learn too by "osmosis"!

  20. Your Snowmen are so cute. And, I'm sure Larry is going to do well with the webmaster training. So many businesses need help in this area. Heck, just about every quilt shop in So. Cal. needs such help so maybe you can also help to consult.

  21. Love those snowmen! That method for HST is one I've been meaning to try. Love your colors you chose.

    I hope much success for your husband. I understand so well the difficulty with job hunting. My very qualified, US Army Retired husband has not been able to find work in our area. Up side, he is the best grandpa ever!

  22. Your snowmen noses look very much like real carrots; nice job. I'm trying to use my stash, too, and hopefully that will work.
